Wagon is a wordless musical performance by Nicolas Rombouts and Joris Caluwaerts, two intriguing musicians with a penchant for creative and adventurous sound making. Not only do they play piano and double bass, but also other “instruments” such as a train, railway tracks, switches, speakers and a whole heap of cables in between.

Before you know it, they magically transform their music and a room full of objects into a veritable movie scene and take you on an enchanted dream-filled journey through their musical fantasy world. The duo are masters of igniting the imagination of every spectator, whether young or old, with fascinating interludes that make for an exciting and inspiring sound adventure. Dreamy melodies merge with the amazingly thrilling rhythm of cables, riding trains, springs and strings.

Surrounded by an impressive décor of railroad tracks, Nicolas and Joris unfold a rich and ever intriguing scenery of interweaving sounds and sights before the eyes of their audience and make this performance sound wise and visually an unforgettable experience.

Wagon is not theatre, but pure sound art. (Theaterkrant ****)
